    There is now another text     by Geert Lovink -- *War In The Age of Internet* --, an interesting and acid reflexion (written under the heat of those strange days) on the effects and relations between the Balcans Crisis and the new territory of internet.

  1. A VIROSE participa na primeira edição do evento multidisciplinar Conatminações, que decorrerá em Lisboa, no CAM da Gulbenkian, entre 2 e 5 de Dezembro.

    VIROSE is taking part at the Contaminations project held by the portuguese magazine Número (CAM/Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, Lisbon, Portugal, 2-5 December 1999).



      *      Contaminações surge como um ponto de partida para uma reflexão e exemplo metafórico mais aprofundado sobre a complexidade das fundações por que nos guiamos, e da multiplicidade de mecanismos virulógicos a que a vivência humana - física e intelectual - está sujeita. Uma reflexão, dada a necessidade de melhor aprofundamento a nível teórico e crítico das diferentes linguagens que, nas últimas décadas, se têm vindo a reescrever umas por cima das outras, não iludindo e antes sublinhando as marcas referenciais de cópia e citação)"samplagem".

      Nesta procura, surge este projecto com um olhar atento à invariabilidade dos referentes e desperto para a variabilidade do gesto/acção artístico-cultural, nas suas múltiplas expressões.*

  2. O Museu da estratégia Moderna irá ser alvo de uma apresentação pública e retrospectiva do trabalho desenvolvido entre 1997 e 1999. Esta exposição, intitulada Projecto Bunker (1997-99), terá lugar no Círculo de Artes Plásticas de Coimbra entre Dezembro de 1999 e Janeiro de 2000, e tem a coordenação de Miguel Leal (com uma colaboração especial de Duarte Soares Lema para o Departamento de Arte).
    A inauguração está prevista para o dis 18 de Dezembro, sábado. às 21.30.

    The Museum of Modern Strategy will be the main subject of a public retrospective presentation at the CAPC (Coimbra, Portugal), between December 1999 and January 2000. The exhibition -- Projecto Bunker (1997-99) -- will be a complete survey of the last few years of work and it is directed by Miguel Leal (with Duarte Soares Lema as special guest on the Art Department Bunker project).
    Opening: December, 18 at 21.30.

  1. O Workshop COAST LINE ATTITUDES: CULTURE, COLONIALISM AND THE INTERNET teve lugar em Dezembro de 1998 no CCB em Lisboa, Numa parceria entre a Virose e o servidor www.yourserver.co.uk (Manchester, UK).
    Partindo da ideia inicial da presença colonialista das imagens na web, a intenção foi a de criar um observatório mediático do ano de 1998 (Media Watch Tower for 98). Combinou-se, então, uma análise semi-teórica com um arquivo interactivo de imagens que pretende classificar e expor a linguagem obscura das imagens e sons que têm flutuado livremente na www em 98. Daí resultou um Workspace onde estão alojados alguns dos trabalhos realizados pelos participantes. Este projecto também inclui um painel de mensagens de participação aberta.

    The Workshop COAST LINE ATTITUDES: CULTURE, COLONIALISM AND THE INTERNET was a collaboration between the Museum of Modern Strategy & Virose, Porto and Yourserver.Co.Uk, Manchester & Liverpool], and it toke place at the CCB (lisbon, Portugal) in December 1998. The results from that meeting, always a work in progress, are included on the workspace. There is also a free message board working.
